Relief Package 27

Clima Now takes a stand against climate-damaging budget cuts

The Swiss Federal Council has proposed a series of saving measures in its “Relief Package 27,” which was released for public consultation on January 29, 2025. Now, it's up to business, civil society, science, and politics to take a position.

ÂĽ of the proposed cuts affect climate and biodiversity protection
Key measures—such as subsidies for climate-friendly building renovations and innovation—are to be reduced or eliminated entirely. This puts the implementation of the climate goals, clearly approved by the Swiss electorate in 2023, at serious risk.

Cutting climate funding now will be costly in the future
These are not just expenditures, but investments in our shared future. According to the Federal Office for the Environment, unchecked climate change could cost Switzerland up to 4% of its GDP per year by 2050—a figure that translates into billions.

That’s why Clima Now is speaking up.
We are committed to a climate policy that looks ahead. Climate protection must remain a priority. That’s why Clima Now is actively participating in the consultation process.

Disclaimer: Clima Now’s statement on Relief Package 27 was developed using model statements from various sources, particularly those from the Environmental Alliance and the Building Programme Alliance.
